Day 139

I always feel so tiny looking up.

What I love: That I have learned a lot being here.  Also, notice that this building has pretty old architecture while the building next to it is pretty modern.  Chicago is just like that.

Day 138

Not my favorite, but it'll do for today.

What I love: When LS makes milkshakes and good times with friends on a Sunday.  Also, bike rides through the city.

Day 137

Sometimes husbands join in the painting session and show you up.

What I love: I have tried so many new things since being here.  We went out for Pho with some friends and it was DELICIOUS!  I'm loving Vietnamese food and going new places in the city.  Also, I love that the husband sat down and painted with me.  He's talented in so many ways and I love him. You may now proceed to barf at our cuteness.

Day 136

Some days you just do homework and you need a creative outlet.

What I love: Have I mentioned how much I'm loving green right now and the color blue? Because Chicago's gray skies are looking brighter every day!

Day 135

Last day of work for a friend so we went out to eat.
Not my best painting, but it's a painting.

What I love: The quaint little pizza buffet I went to today.  I normally hate buffets, but this one was just salad, 4 different kinds of pizza, spaghetti, and macaroni and cheese.  It was nice.  Most of all though, I got to hang out with the other long-term sub in the building on her last day of work.  Man, I'm going to miss her!

Day 134

Oh this picture makes me happy.

What I love: I had lost all hope that spring would come and then all of a sudden there are leaves on trees and it's still kind of cool, but I went outside without a jacket on today and I feel tike that's progress.

Day 133

I've always loved this balcony...I may have made some modifications...

What I love: Warm spring nights with homemade paninis and long walks in the evening around the neighborhood.

Day 132

Drawing lessons with the kids...

What I love: Spending time with friends and teaching lessons to kids. Today's lesson was based on drawing their favorite animal.  We broke down a dog into basic shapes.

Day 131

Here's a card for the internet...

What I love: That there's at least one day in the year where we showing women appreciation for all their hard work.  I love that it's an excuse to show a little bit of love and the city of Chicago showed a little love this last Sunday. :)

Day 130

Another thing I didn't discover last summer...the beach.
Also, sometimes you start painting and it looks really cool and then sometimes the background hates you and you have to improvise.

What I love: Warm, sunny days on the lakefront with little boys playing in the sand.

Day 129

One day I'll catch up, but spring is coming...maybe?  Can you see it in the reflection?

What I love:  Driving home from work and getting excited about Dandelions.  I forgot that plants actually grew here.  Also, I love that all of sudden there are people!  I wonder where they all came from, but there are so many more people around than there were this winter.

Day 128

Some days you don't do much...

What I love: CREATING!!!  Have I said it enough?  I love pattern and shape and line.

Day 127

Sorry for the weird aura???  I'm rushing, can you tell?
It's late and I'm tired!

What I love: Going on walks around the city and discovering little community gardens that have suddenly become your happy place in the city.

Day 126

Drawing lessons didn't happen today, but Blogilates and Chipotle did. :)  This is what I would have had her do had we actually done it, but with pencil.

What I love: That this project has made me create again.  I'm stretching myself further than I ever have and it's exciting.

Day 125

On my way to a party and I saw this place...

What I love: The churches!  They are so incredibly unique and so frequent.  This architecture was so interesting and I just had to capture it for you.

Day 124

Dear followers.  I'm sorry.  I can't promise I'll never disappear for so long again, but I'm going to send a lot of loveliness your way!

What I love: The shapes in the architecture and since I've been doing this project the things that I discover that I would have NEVER noticed.

Day 123

A good night celebrating with friends at Yuzu in Ukrainian Village.

What I love: Sushi!  Also, I like the different views of buildings you get when you look at the top of a really short building.

Day 122

We went to Jump On It and it was fun!  This was not Jump On It, but the British School across the street has some pretty cool architecture.

What I Love: What is not to love about giant inflatable slides and obstacles courses.  Also, loving the fact that it was a free date night and we got to pretend we were parents, but without all the responsibility.  Then we got to go to Noodles & Company with our pretend child.

Day 121

This was the outside of a building we went to go see since we're moving apartments and it was a little scary, but the building was nice.

What I love: The architecture in Chicago, also it's almost kind of spring here and it makes me SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY.

Day 120

Went in for another interview at this school...

What I love: That clouds in this sky and teaching.  I love that I still get to teach here in Chicago.

Day 119

A walk in the park because it's so warm!!!

What I love: This park, it was such a fun one to walk around, I even ran.  I love finding green space in the city.

April in Review

Another month has gone by and I've painted all these paintings/drawings.  The fact that I'm still going still amazes me.  I wasn't the best at it in April, but May is a new month and I'll try a littler harder.  I think I may have started not hating this place.
